After doing my PhD in infectious diseases and mathematical modeling, it is nice to be back in the field of biology and specifically cell biology. During my undergrad I did a lot of medical biology, for lack of better words, and I must admit I missed it. My time during my PhD using mathematical methodology to predict latent dynamics of an infectious disease outbreak was fun but the issues that slowed my work were not the biological aspects. In my current work, it is the biology that is holding me back but since I have studied this all previously, it is as if I am rereading a good book for the first time in 10 years. I look forward to being able to apply my skills to address the current limitations of analyzing genetic data.
